What exactly does a Personal Trainer do?

At Amore Fitness, our personal trainers have independently accredited personal training certifications, such as from ACE, ACSM, NSCA, FISAF. Before your trainer designs a suitable training programme for you, they will find out more about your fitness goals, exercise and medical history, and lifestyle and nutritional habits. Your body composition will be measured and they will conduct simple fitness tests to have a better understanding of your current physical condition. Together you will establish realistic goals and discuss the strategies used to achieve them.

During your personal training sessions, your personal trainer will be there to motivate you, advise you on proper exercise technique, and work hand in hand with you to achieve your goals in a realistic timeframe.

What does a typical Personal Training session consist of?

Each 1-hour session starts off with a brief discussion to ensure you are staying on track (food intake, independent workouts et cetera). Actual training sessions vary depending on the individual’s exercise goals, but most programs comprise 5-10 minutes of light warm up and dynamic stretching, 45-50 minutes of resistance training, followed by a cool down and stretching period. Depending on the individual’s goals, a cardio regimen may also be followed.

What are the benefits of working with a Personal Trainer?

Working with a Personal Trainer ensures that your exercise programme is tailored according to your goals and fitness level, and exercises are executed safely with proper technique and alignment. Our Personal Trainers are also equipped with the knowledge and skills required to work around injuries and medical conditions; they will readily modify exercises and workout intensity with your best interests in mind.

What do I need to bring to a Personal Training session?

For maximum comfort and exercise safety, it is recommended to be in proper gym attire and correct footwear. Not forgetting that all important workout accessory – a positive attitude!

How many Personal Training sessions do I need to see results?

Our bodies all respond differently to exercise and nutritional changes. The recommended frequency of exercise is three to five times per week, with each exercise session performed at moderate intensity for 30 to 60 minutes.  Depending on your goals and current fitness level, your Personal Trainer will recommend training sessions accordingly. Your training programme may comprise twice or thrice weekly personal training sessions, and independent workout sessions.

Will I work with the same Personal Trainer every session?

In order to ensure continuity in your training programme, and to optimize your results in the shortest time, it is recommended that you work with the same Personal Trainer every session.

Do I have to be an Amore Fitness member to engage the services of a Personal Trainer?

Prior to engaging the services of our Personal Trainer, you would need to enrol as an Amore Fitness member. As a member, you will be entitled to complimentary gym usage during every visit when you attend group fitness classes.
